Don has over 30 years of experience as an educator, researcher, performer, lecturer, product specialist, consultant, electronic music artist, sound designer and composer. As a guest researcher at IRCAM, he assisted in the development of the Buchla 400 computer musical instrument database. Other roles include guest lecturer at many post-graduate institutes including Queen’s University, St. Lawrence College and York University, composer-in-residence at The Ontario Science Center, resident synthesist for Bronze Records at Roundhouse Studios and Berwick St. Studios in London, sound designer for the Dinosaur Walk Museum, founder of the Electronic Music Program at Trebas Institute, advisor to IMAX, and founding faculty member at the Harris Institute for the Arts, where he has served as the Director of Electronic Music for 20 years. Don is an acclaimed electronic music artist known for using the most innovative electronic music technology and spatial imaging applications. A published writer and member of the Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics, he has received critical acclaim from physicists such as Robert Forward, Cliff Pickover, Paul Steinhardt, Lev Kofman and John Hutchison.
Don produced music in many studios in England, France, Canada, USA and Germany, produced the first international 3-M digital multi-track album, performed solo electronic music at Stonehenge, and was the piano instructor to Dennis Quaid for the film Great Balls of Fire. He has contributed musical scores for several films, television productions and commercials for CBC, YTV, TSN, and arranged, performed and produced the anthem “Heroes of the Game”, winner of the David Foster Songwriting Contest, for the Grey Cup Pre-game Show, 1987 and 1988. He is currently collaborating with his long-time friend, Paul Vo, inventor of the MOOG Guitar, winner of the 2009 MIX Foundation TEC Award for Outstanding Technical Achievement, Musical Instrument Category, the Guitar Player Reader's Choice Award, Electronic Musician's Editor's Choice Award, Popular Science's Best Of What's New Award and a NAMM Best In Show Award.
